RFF - Reykjavik Fashion Festival

This is the 6th year running of the Reykjavík Fashion Festival, an important platform for Icelandic fashion designers. The event promotes the Icelandic fashion scene, creates awareness, and brings about opportunities in international markets.

Wind of Change

As mentioned in the Iceland Design DesignMarch program - Wind of Change is an interdisciplinary housing and rural development project conducted by Aurora Design Fund in collaboration with City Council of Reykjavik, Federation of Icelandic Industries, Iceland Design Centre, four major Icelandic Housing Associations and the Iceland Academy of the Arts.

Genitalita

This collaborative project is exactly ‘what it says on the tin’. Genitalita explores the difference between individual from the creative industry. They are brought together by their common interest in sexual energy, the primal force of human nature. Genitals will appear in different mediums, forms, and shapes.

The Infinite String Quartet

The Infinite String Quartet is an interactive music composition by composer Úlfur Eldjárn, graphic designer Sigurður Oddsson and programmer Halldór Eldjárn.

The listeners can create their own version of the music through an intuitive graphic interface on the web or on a mobile app, controlling recordings of an actual string quartet. The clips can be layered, looped and reordered in infinitely many different combinations, and the possibilities of creating unique versions of the piece are therefore infinite.

One by Eighteen at SPARK DESIGN SPACE

One by Eighteen is a collaboration between product designers Auður Ösp Guðmundsdóttir and Halla Kristín Hannesdóttir. Throughout history, dollhouses have charmed both children and adults.

This exhibition bears reference to a so-called surprise cabinet, a locker containing an adventurous collection of various objects. Spark Design Space invite guests and future owners of the dollhouses to view selected houses, furnished for peculiar and imaginary residents – in hopes of inspiring the future owners.

Post–Luxurian Artefacts

With her Post-Luxurian Artifacts, Emilie F. Grenier explores alternative trends for the production and consumption of rare and luxurious objects, and proposes a new definition of the current state of luxury, one which (re)places most emphasis on meaning, craft and provenance.

Persona

In Persona, designer Laufey Jónsdóttir studies the contrasting self images of individuals. Using interviews as foundation, Jónsdóttir creates experimental portraits made with mixed media: drawings, photographs and collages, playing with light and shadows in three dimension.

MAGNEA X Aurum

MAGNEA debuts a jewelry design collection in collaboration with Aurum. The collection has a strong relation to the label’s vision, emphasizing on knitting and use of Icelandic wool mixed with unconventional materials.

MAGNEA has attracted great attention for her original approach to knitting and use of materials, with emphasis on Icelandic wool, finishing and details. Those key elements reflect the overall collection with ideas implemented in new materials.

Aurum is one of the most interesting jewelry design labels in Iceland. Aurum’s jewelry design collections have noticeable but subtle overtone, giving natural form a new meaning in its three dimensional design.
